Unit 5: Key Words and Definitions


Here are the Key Words from Unit 5.

Mesta: Association of sheep farmers in the Crown of Castilla. The kings would grant privileges to the farmers and would protect them all over the Cañadas Reales.

Mudejar: Muslim who lived in the Christian kingdoms.

Parias: They were taxes that the Taifa Kingdoms paid to the Christian Kingdoms of the north.

Court: It was a group of entrusted people who accompanied the king.

Almogavars: Catalan and Aragonese mercenaries.

Troubadour: They were people who wrote romantic poetry, which they set to music. Their works were very popular among lovers and were performed by jongleurs.
